הפיוט חובר על ידי הפייטן המקובל הרב שלמה הלוי אלקבץ ונחשב לחלק החדש ביותר בסידור התפילה שמקובל על כל העדות. לפיוט חוברו לחנים רבים.

The glory of the God is revealed upon you.
Who is this that cometh up out of the wilderness
perfumed with myrrh and frankincense,
with all powders of the merchant?

Shlomo ha-Levi Alkabetz, (1500 – 1576) was a rabbi, kabbalist and poet perhaps best known for his composition of the song Lecha Dodi.
This poem combine the text of Lecha Dodi with phrases from song of songs (3,6).
It’s actually using the same technique used by the poet, combining biblical phrases and creating a poem based on phrases from bible.
