Cotton Lloyd & Christian – “I Go To Pieces” (Germany Philips) 1975

Written by Del Shannon. Produced by Michael Lloyd and Mike Curb.

Faithful revival of the Peter & Gordon #9 hit from early 1965. Cotton Lloyd & Christian were Darryl Cotton, Michael Lloyd and Chris Christian, all with extensive careers in the music business. Adelaide born, Darryl, began as a member of Zoot, an Australian band that at one time included Rick Springfield and Beeb Birtles (later with the Little River Band). (Sadly, we lost Darryl Cotton in 2012.) Cotton Lloyd & Christian’s version of “I Go To Pieces” reached #66 in 1975.

Michael Lloyd became a highly successful highly successful producer of teen idol pop stars including the Osmonds, Shaun Cassidy, and Leif Garrett in the 1970s. During the 1980s, he supervised the music soundtrack for the movie Dirty Dancing, and produced the hit “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”, as well as working with Belinda Carlisle, Barry Manilow, and many others.

Three years after this disc, producer Mike Curb, became Lieutenant Governor of California, serving when Jerry Brown was Governor. At the time of writing, Jerry Brown has been re-elected and serves as the 39th Governor of the State of California.

Unlike the US and UK releases, this German one comes with a fantastic picture sleeve of the artists.
