God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond you could ask or imagine:
Let’s take our Bibles and do a confession. This is my holy Bible. I am what it says I am. I have what it says I have. I can do what it says I can do. Today, as I’m taught the word of God, my mind will be renewed. My heart will be transformed. I am a new creation because I belong to a forgiven generation. I am highly favored, deeply loved, wholly healed, greatly blessed in Jesus’ name. Amen. Please be seated. We want to take this time to welcome all those who are here for the very first time. We appreciate you coming all the way in the rain. There has been continuous rains for one week and the city is clogged up with rains here and there. Yet you took time to come in house to worship God. God sees that. He honors that. Amen. Everyone logged in online, you have a special word from God. Amen. You will go out completely loved and satisfied. Amen. God loves you that he has a message for every one of you this morning. Amen. He said in Ephesians 3:20, “God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond you could ask or imagine.” Amen.
He is able to do more than you could ask or imagine. That is today’s title. Ask and imagine. Amen. That is the first step in receiving church. Ask and imagine. That is what God said. God wants you to ask. God wants to give you the things that you were dreaming for to be manifested in this season now because he gave it on the cross of Calvary. He wants it to be manifested. Amen. That’s why time and time again God said ask it shall be given. This what Jesus said is recorded in all the four gospels. Starting from Matthew, we see Matthew 7 verse number 7. It says, “Ask and it shall be given unto you. Everyone who asks will receive.” It’s recorded in Matthew. It’s recorded in Luke. Luke 11. It says the same thing that Jesus said is recorded. Ask and it shall be given. And the gospel of Mark is recorded in Mark 11:24. It says, “Therefore, when you pray, ask and whatever you ask, believe that you have received and it shall be yours.” And it continues in the fourth non-synoptic gospel, the book of John.
Here it is mentioned in John chapter 14, John chapter 15, John chapter 16, John chapter 14 it says ask for anything. Those of you who are writing John 14:14 he it says ask for anything in my name you will receive it. Anything in my name so that father may be glorified. Amen. And John goes on to write in John chapter 15 verse number 7, “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask for anything so that your joy may be full.” God wants your joy to be full. When you have not received it, it means your joy is not full. So God wants you to have full joy. So he says ask for anything and receive the fullness of your joy. Amen. Let us see the scriptures whatever I have quoted so that you can write it down and put your eyes on that and see let’s understand ask you can see the title up there ask and imagine it is two big topics which we will not be able to finish it today. So today we will be focusing and learning why God said to ask and what happens after we ask and how come we receive when we ask. Though God has already given everything before we ask, before we fast, before we pray, he already gave us all things. Yet the Bible in the gospels it says ask and after the finished work of the cross we see in the book of James it says ask in faith. We see in the book of Ephesians it says ask or imagine. So God can exceed your asking and exceed your imagination. So it is recorded in the gospels and recorded in the epistles. So there is some hidden profound truth in asking. Amen. It is powerful. So let’s study this morning on why Jesus said to ask and why all the four gospel writers in all the four gospels it is mentioned to ask. Amen.
Let’s see the scripture for today. Show them Ephesians 3:20. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to his power that is at work within us. Ask or imagine. So Paul writes this to Ephesians saying ask or imagine because Ephesians he reveals lot of profound truth. In the book of Ephesians chapter 1 he talks about your position. Ephesians chapter 1 verse 161 17 18- 19 he says how God has changed your position and taken you from lower level to above principalities and powers and made you to be seated in heavenly places. God has elevated you. So Paul is writing a letter to Ephesians and he says God has elevated you to a very high position. You are above principalities. You are above this natural things. You’re above all this carnal things. You’re above the earthly system. You are above all things. The truth of your identity in Christ is shown in the book of Ephesians chapter 1 where God has positioned you after he placed you. Jesus is seated on the right hand side of the father and the Bible says you have been made a joint heir and God elevated your position to be seated with Jesus on the right hand side of the father. So Ephesians 1 talks about your position seated on the right hand side of the father. Ephesians chapter 2 talks about you are a masterpiece created. You are a workmanship of God. There is no one like you before. There is no one like you after. Even your twin does not have your fingerprint. Your DNA is different from your sibling, your parents and your twin. You are one of a kind. You are God kind. Amen.
It talks about how beautifully wonderfully God created you in the book of Ephesians. So you know what God has done, how powerful you are. How much intricately you were designed, a great designer put lot of thought into you and planned you and beautified you and brought you into existence. He not only brought you into existence as a human being, he brought you into existence as a new creation. Amen. So that revelation we get it in the book of Ephesians chapter 2. So if you see in Ephesians 1 it says I am seated with Christ. This happened only after Jesus died on the cross of Calvary. So Jesus purchased everything for me. Yeah. Amen. So Ephesians chapter 2 clearly says that I am master priest in God. I am created in his beauty in his likewise in his likeness. I am the workmanship of God. You and I. Ephesians 2:10, it talks about your your creation, how God has beautified you. Now, Ephesians chapter 3, it says, “Ask.” It says, “Ask.” How come when I’m already seated with Jesus on the right hand side of the father? Why should I ask? When God has given me everything pertaining to life and godliness, 1 Peter 1:3, why should I ask? Ephesians chapter 1:3, “Blessed be the name of the father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed me with all spiritual things.” Then why should I ask? Paul, you just told me Ephesians 1:3 that you have given, God has given me all things. And now Ephesians chapter 3, you are saying me to ask. Why should I ask when it is already given? Amen. That is what we will be studying this morning. A powerful principle where throughout the gospels and epistles it is recorded. It is very powerful. So let’s understand today. Ask. Amen. Why Jesus said ask? Show them. Matthew chapter 7 verse number 7. I’m sure you have learned this as maybe one of the first Bible verses. Ask and it shall be given unto you.
Same thing is recorded in the Luke. Show them the book of Luke. In the book of Luke, the same verse, the same context is recorded in Luke. Ask and it will be given to you. And same thing is recorded in Mark 11 verse 24. Show them Mark 11:24. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Show them Luke. So they get to see it’s there in Matthew. It’s there in Luke. It is there in Mark. And now show them John. They get to see John. John chapter 16 verse 24. Those of you who are writing, please make a note. John 14 13:14. John 15:7.
John 16:24. Amen. So John 14 it says ask so that father may be glorified in the son. The gospel of John says ask so that father may be glorified. Ask for big things. Ask for great things. Ask not your size, your experience, your personality, your background, your country, your talent. Ask based on God’s ability. Amen. It says ask so that father may be glorified. Anyone can ask. Anyone. It does not say this person should have this qualification, this stature, this height, this color, this race. It says ask whosoever and whatsoever. Amen. It says whosoever can ask and whatsoever you can ask. Amen. Now whatsoever you ask, it says in the book of John because the people of John the readers he understood that they knew that they have to ask according to the will of God. Amen. Let’s see John 16:24 and then show them first John 5:14 so you get clarity. John 16:24 it says, “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask and you will receive that your joy may be full. You might have not yet received because you have not yet asked. Second category you might be saying I have asked I have not yet received. So let’s study both. First category you have not yet asked. You have limited guard. You have limited your thinking. you’re limiting your growth because we are not believing in ourself. That is why Apostle Paul put the order in place. He said God did everything for you. He sent his son. He died for you on the cross. He took you far above, made you a joint here.
You’re seated with Christ on the right hand side of the father. The same power that rose Jesus from dead lives in you. Ephesians 1:19:20. Ephesians 1:21 says, “He has taken you far above and placed you in heavenly places.” He talks about what Jesus did. Now, Ephesians 2, he says, “God has made you a masterpiece. You are the workmanship of God because you are the workmanship. Because you are awesome. Because you are the masterpiece, one of its kind. Ask according to what God has created you. Amen. He gives introduction to who you are. He makes you understand who you are. Please do the homework this week. Read Ephesians 1, 2, 3. Read Ephesians 1, 2, and then you understand why he says, “Ask.” Now when you know how God has made you then your asking will change. If you look at yourself as a womb, you look at yourself as a limited individual, you look at yourself as some weak person with weakness with lot of shortcomings, if you look at yourself in carnality, you will not ask. That is why Paul shows the mirror.
He shows the mirror to you and he says you are not ordinary. You are a masterpiece. He shows the mirror what you can become in the hand of God and what he has already made you in the hand of God. You can become because he has already made you. Amen. So he shows you who you are. When you know who you are in Christ Jesus, what you have in Christ Jesus, then you will dare to ask. You will ask big. You will ask bold. You will ask according to what God has purposed in his heart for you. Amen. So people are not asking because they don’t know what God has made. They think I cannot ask such a big thing from God. I I I cannot dare to ask this big ministry, this finance, this increase. I don’t have that qualification. I don’t have that looks. I don’t have that talent. So there is some insecurity. You don’t know who you are. So you limit to ask God. Second reason we don’t ask God because we don’t know God. We don’t know God. When we don’t know God, we don’t ask God. When you know his love, when you know his goodness, when you know what he has done, he has lavished his love upon you. That’s when you ask. So now he says, “Ask.” Until now you have not asked me anything. Ask so that your joy may be full. God wants your joy to be full. Whatever you’re not married, ask. You want a new job, ask. You want to have fitness, ask. You want to have children, ask. You want a ministry, ask. Ask for anything according to his will. 1 John 5:14 clearly it says this is the confidence that we have that whatever we ask according to his will he hears us. Amen.
He hears us church. He hears us. In the book of Psalms it says the ears of the Lord are attentive to the cry of righteous. His ears are always attentive to you. He hears what you say and he hears more than you say. Amen. Amen. The things that you don’t utter, the things that your heart is yearning, the the pain, the feelings, everything he hears, he understands. His ears are attentive to your cry. Show them first John 5:14. Such a beautiful scripture. Now this is the confidence that we have in him that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. Amen. Church, what’s the meaning of this phrase? He hears us. If he hears that that’s that that means it’s not that he is a prayer hearing God. He is a prayer answering God. Amen. He’s not just hearing and does nothing about it. Just show you some pity and maybe some compassion. No, he does something about it. Amen. You’re not talking to your friend or spouse or your uh relative. You’re talking to your God. Amen. He hears you.
He always hears you. That’s what the confidence Jesus had when he stood in front of the tomb of Lazarus in the book of John 11:42. Jesus stood in front of tomb of Lazarus and he didn’t panic. He didn’t complain. He was not in anxiety. He didn’t worry. Four days the body is dead in the tomb of L in in the tomb. What he said? He just stood in front of the tomb and he said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me and I know that you always hear me.” Amen. He had confidence that father hears him. Amen. So when you have confidence, father hears you, you will ask bold with God. Amen. Because you have confidence that his ears are attentive to your cry. He wants to give you to make to so that you can have your joy complete. And the second thing if God knows what I want, then why is that? He’s ask he’s saying to ask the Bible says even before there is a word on your tongue he knows it. God knows even before anything you say he knows what you’re thinking. Yet it says to ask because God cannot involve in your life without your permission. Amen. Amen.
God cannot involve in your life. He have heavens of the heavens belongs to God. Earth he has given it to man. So because he has given earth to you. You have authority on earth. He has given away his authority to you. You have permission for your life. You need to involve him. You need to all love him. So when you ask, you are involving God. When you ask, you are a loving God. When you ask, you are involving heaven. When you ask, you are believing in his existence. When you ask, you’re believing in his love. When you ask, you have confidence that he hears. That’s where you are asking. And he says, “Ask and you shall receive.” Amen. So when we ask, it makes God happy. Amen. The other day I was praying couple of months ago for the new year asking for the big things for the church for the ministry that God has called the vision that he has shared. I dare to ask something big and I heard within my heart not audibly God saying I’m happy you asked. I said God so all this well you were waiting for me to ask I got so much of confidence when I heard that assurance that conviction and then it got lined up with first John 5:14 this is the confidence we have so I said God I’m so glad that I asked you thank you that you are happy so I was hesitating to ask you know why there was hesitation to ask I felt maybe that is not what God has called me for that calling maybe that is not what God wants me to have there was a doubt in his will.
When you have doubt in your in the will of God like for example some people don’t ask for healing in their body because they think God gave the healing sickness so that God can be glorified which is a life from the pit of hell. So that that is what the enemy has convinced them. So they think God has given this sickness so let me not ask for healing. there is doubt in his will. When there is doubt in his will, you don’t ask. When you know God’s will, that is where faith begins. When you know he has healed you from all sickness, from all disease, by his stripes, you were healed. When you know this truth, you will ask because you know this is the will of God. When will of God is made clear to you, you have confidence to ask. Amen. So people should know the will of God. Amen. When you know the will of God, you know you’re asking the right thing. And when you know how much God loves you. Very important. Jesus always walked in the consciousness that father loves him. Father gave a strong statement when Jesus took baptism. He said, “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.” When devil came to tempt him, the title he dropped was beloved.
He said, “If you are the son of God, then do this.” Jesus said, “I am not responding to that because I am not the son of God. I am the beloved son of God. Amen. So when you are in the consciousness that God loves you, you are God’s beloved. You will go to God and ask anything, ask big and ask bold and you will say, “God loves me too much to deny my request.” Amen, church. God loves me too much to deny my request. Amen. Are you in that place? Are you in that position where you will say God loves me too much to deny my request? And I know this request is according to the will of God. Amen. According to the will of God. So being in the consciousness that God loves me is very important. That’s why Jesus could boldly stand in front of L tomb of Lazarus and say, “Father, I know you have heard me and I know you always hear me. Lazarus, come out over. That’s it. And he came out. Thank God he used the word Lazarus. If he would have said come out, everyone in the grave would have walked out that morning, right? He had to be specific. So church, be specific when you ask God because he is hearing you. Amen. He’s always listening to you. Very important. So whenever Jesus healed people in the gospels, I see there is a pattern in place. Most of the times, not always, most of the times he asked a question. He asked question to the people who came for healing. And I see Jesus questions are so profound, so deep itself can be sermons because so many questions and so deep the questions are.
So let me explain something like when Jesus went to the pool of Bethesda, that man was lying there for 38 years. Now Jesus is asking him, “Do you want to be healed?” What kind of question is that? What kind of question is that? Obviously, he is right there in front of pool of Bethesda and he wants to be healed. Jesus is asking, “Do you want to be healed?” Why do you think he’s questioning? He wants to hear. He wants to listen. He wants that person to ask. As ask and what that person says, please follow the story. Please show them. At the pool of Bethesda, John 5:6-7. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” What a question. Obviously yes. But look at the answer. Verse 7. The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is still there, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus asked him a close-ended question. Do you want to be healed? So what should be his answer? Simple. Simple. He is saying when the water is stirred, when the angel comes, someone always jumps in, there is nobody to help me, nobody to put me in the water. He is complaining. He is talking about the problem. He’s talking about the mountain. He’s talking about the sickness. He’s talking about the pain. He is talking about worries. He is talking about everything that has gone wrong in his life. So from this story we can conclude prayer is not a time of complaining. Prayer is not a place to go to God and worry and cry and whine and
mourn and inform him everything because he’s misinformed. Is he misinformed? Is he poorly informed? You don’t have to inform him. You don’t have to give him news. He knows everything. So when Jesus asked him, “Do you want to be healed?” His answer has to be, “Yes, I want to be healed.” Instead, he’s complaining, he’s talking, he’s worrying, he’s continuously talking about the past that always he lost. So where is his focus? His focus is on the sickness. His focus is on no help.
His focus is on the problem. His focus is there’s nobody to put him in the water. His focus is someone else is always getting blessed more than him. His focus is someone else got married before him, someone else got healed before him, someone else got baby before him, someone else has got their dream job. His focus is on everybody else. while the solution is standing in flesh and blood in front of him. So your focus in prayer should not be on the mountain should not be on the problem should not be on the issue. When you go to God in prayer our focus should not be on the bronze snake. Our focus should be on the bronze snake. What is that? When the people in the wilderness were bitten uh Moses gave the solution. He said don’t look at your bite. Don’t look at people who are dying. He said look at the bronze snake. Show the quote. When you ask, don’t look at your need. Look at the bronze snake. Amen. Let me explain. Whenever we are asking I have been there, I have done that. So I’m able to explain it better. Sometimes they say right a student who has failed many times can be a better teacher. Right? So I I have failed many times in my dealings, in my askings, in my prayers. So now I really know the answer. Now I really know because now I see that I am getting extraordinary results. Amen. So I want to help you. So whenever we go in prayer, what we do generally is we focus on the problem. We are too focused on the pain. We are too focused on the mountain. If you’re praying for a sickness, you’re too focused on the sickness. Too focused. Every day you check your blood and then you say, “God, my blood has increased. My BP has increased. My blood pressure has increased. Too much focused. Say you’re praying for a job. Too much focus. God, nine months I’ve not got a job. Five months I’ve not got a job. God, my savings are depleting. God, what is going to happen next month? How am I going to pay next month? You’re talking your problem to God. You’re too focused on the problem. You need to rewire your brain. You should not focus on the pain.
You should not focus on the problem. You shall focus on the bronze snake. As long as you focus on the pain, the pain will increase because my dear friend, whatever you focus, it will grow. Whatever you focus, it will grow. If you’re focusing on the lack, lack will grow. If you’re focusing on the pain, pain will grow. You’re focusing on the belly, belly will grow. You’re focusing on the problem. Problem will grow. Been there, done that. That’s say I’m I’m able to relate and tell you. Let’s not focus on the problem and keep talking about the problem to God. Like this man who said nobody is there to put me. Why do you think that story is recorded for us to know? You don’t have to talk about that. You don’t have to focus. You go to God and you talk like blind Bartinius. Another question I said there are many questions Jesus asked in the gospels when people came for healing. Today we’ll be discussing three. One question the pool at Bethesda which we discussed. Second we will see when Jesus was returning from Jericho there was a blind man son of Timus whom we call Bartimus. He asked he answered so beautifully. Look at that. Show them Mark 10:52. So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “Raboni, that I may receive my sight.” My goodness. Jesus was returning from Jericho and there was a blind Bartmus. This blind man keeps begging asking son of David have mercy on me. Jesus calls him. So disciples go to him and say cheer up he has called you. He comes in front of Jesus and Jesus asked this
profound question. What do you want me to do? Jesus what kind of question is that? He’s a blind man. He’s a beggar. He he obviously wants sight. But yet, why are you asking? What do you want me to do? Can you see there is a principle in place? God wants you to open your mouth and say, “Ask.” And you know what? He asked that I may receive my sight. He said that I may receive my sight. God wanted to hear. Jesus wanted to hear that. Jesus wanted him to ask.
Why? Because it’s been so long that he is blind. It’s been so long he has no faith. It’s been so long that he’s living in this problem. God wants him to ask in faith. He wants him to ask so that Jesus can be involved. Permission to Jesus is given when you ask. Amen. You have to give permission to Jesus to involve in your life. He is a gentleman. He is ruling from the throne of your heart. But he will not violate your will. He will not violate your decisions. Wow. He has given you a free choice as a gift. Amen. So he said what you want? He said I want my sight. In the question itself there is answer. He said what do you want me to do? Why are why are you saying what you want me to do though you know what I want? Bartimas wants uh eyes, he wants prosperity, he wants good health, you know everything. Yet he’s waiting for him to ask. Very profound principle. God is waiting for us to ask. He’s waiting. That’s why he told you who you are in Christ. Ephesians 1. He told you what he has made you in Christ. Ephesians 2. Now he says, “Ask. Ask.” Why? When you ask big, when you ask bold, that means you believe in his love. You believe in his will. You believe that he is hearing. And when you are asking, that means you’re having a deep craving, a desire, a passion. You have that intense craving in your heart. You’re saying, “God, I want it. I want it. Give it to me.” Whenever your passion, your desires, your dreams are too intense, you will not be quiet about it. Whatever it is, whatever it is, your dreams, your desires, your goals, your aim, your passion is too intense.
You will not be quiet about it. It will make you to go on your knees and say, “God, I need it. I need this. Please give it to me.” So when you ask you are involving God. Amen. And God wants to be involved in your life. The word ask in Greek. Show them. The word ask in Greek is ho. A I t e o ho. It is to ask, to beg, to call for, to crave, to desire, to require, to demand. Amen. To demand. It says, wow. you can demand from God. That’s what it says in the book of Isaiah chapter 45 verse number 11. This is what the Lord, the Holy One of Israel says, ask me for anything concerning my sons and concerning my works and you command me. Amen. The Bible says you command me. The meaning behind this is not that we take authority on God and command him. That’s not what it means. It means as a child that would demand with a father having confidence in father’s love saying I need this daddy like that God wants you to demand in his love demand with the assurance that his ears are attentive to you. Amen.
He wants you to demand church. God loves when you demand. When your children run to you and they demand and say, “I want this. I want that. I want pasta today. I want today some cake. I want some sweets.” Whatever they demand, you are not angry with them. You are so happy. You know how they are demanding. Every child demands with their parents confidently. Right? That’s what God said. Jesus said, “Come like little children. Come and demand with God.” Demand. He loves when you demand. You know why? He knows. You can demand only when you know his love for you. Right church? You can demand only when you know his love for you. If you have fear, you will not demand. You will beg. You will plead. You will say if it is your will you give me I’m asking maybe you give me today tomorrow or next year next month or you don’t give me because we don’t have confidence in his love when we have confidence when we have no fear only then we demand when will you demand your parent when you have no fear with your parents when will you demand your boss boss I need hike I need raise if the boss is your best friend, your boss is good to you. That means you have good relationship and say, “Hey buddy, I need raise this year or I need my performance appraisal to be good.” There is some connection. There is some relationship. You demand with a person whom you have no fear, right? And God says demand. You know why? The Bible says fear has to do with torment. Perfect love casteth out all fear. When you know God loves you perfectly, you will not have fear to ask God.
When you don’t know God loves you perfectly, you will have fear to ask God. Now when we ask, we ask with a demand mentality. Like Bartimia said, I need to receive my sight. Amen. In another story, a man had a demon-possessed son. He was putting himself in the fire in the water killing himself. So Jesus see this man sees Jesus coming towards him. He runs to Jesus, kneels down, and he says, “Jesus, I ask you, please heal my son if you are willing.” And now Jesus asks another question. I like that. Whenever you ask him a question, he’ll always answer back with a question. And his questions are so deep. His question is, “What do you mean if I am willing?” There is so much of depth in that answer. What do you mean if I’m willing? Don’t you know I am willing? Don’t you know father sent me in flesh and blood that he is willing? Don’t you know father kept his covenant that he sent me? Don’t you know I am the Messiah, the healer standing in front of you? What do you mean when you say I am willing? He said I am willing and be clean. Amen. That is exactly what God is saying to every one of you this morning. God is willing. Whatever you are asking, God is willing. It is God’s heart so that father can be glorified. It is God’s heart that your joy may be full. Amen. Coming to the second question. Pastor, I am asking but I have not yet received. Why is that not yet received? There are some things that I have been asking for years. Itself is wrong. You’re asking for years. You are asking in unbelief for years.
If any prayer you’re praying for years, please keep a thumb rule. You have been operating in unbelief for years. You cannot ask God for years. It does not work that way. Mark 7:7 clearly says, “Ask and it shall be given. Ask and you shall receive.” It does not say, “Ask for 21 years.” It does not say, “Ask for 40 days.” It does not put a timeline ask for 3 years. It says ask and it shall be given. Now God wants you to ask and receive. He is the source of everything. He is like seven oceans deep, wide, far high. You can go to the ocean to fill the water with a spoon or with a cup or with a bucket or with a tanker. It’s up to you. If you take spoon and go, everyone will laugh. Angels will laugh. All the saints in heaven will laugh. He’s coming with a spoon to ocean. Who determines what you take? It is not the ocean. It is the measure that you use will be measured back to you. Amen. So I encourage you to use a big measure. Come to God with a tanker or come to God with the biggest lake. Prepare a lake and make a channel for the ocean to flow into your private lake. Amen. It’s what you believe. So God does not determine what we receive. It’s we who put tag on God, price on God, limit on God. God says I am like seven oceans. Receive it. Living waters are flowing. Receive how much you can. So why we have not yet received? Coming to this very important question. Mark 11:24. Please show them that scripture.
Therefore, when you pray in prayer, when you ask in prayer, believe that you have received and it shall be yours. Look at that. I say to you, whatsoever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them and you will have them. So, first thing when we go to pray, what is prayer? Here the word in Greek is prouay. Prasuki we studied that in face tof face with Abba that means coming near to God having divine intimacy with God enjoying company of God. When you are in that moment face to face with Aba when you’re talking with Aba you’re communing with Aba the purpose of prayer is not asking it is first communing. Amen. So when you’re communing at that time God says therefore when you pray ask. He says ask so that he can be involved so that you can increase your faith. Don’t ask small things. Ask big things. As you continue to ask, you may start off with asking small portions, small things. As you receive each time, you know what happens? Your faith level increases to raise the bar to ask big things. Now, why are we not receiving what we are asking? Because it says, “Therefore, when you pray, ask, believe that you have received.” Very important. Show them James 1:6. Let’s connect Mark 11:24 to James 1:6. Why we have not yet received what we have asked for. Show them James 1:6. It clearly says, “Ask in faith, but let him ask in faith without doubting.” Faith is actually no doubt. Yet there is double emphasis by James saying ask in faith without doubting. For he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. In the next verse 7 and 8 it says he will not receive anything from God. So why we have not yet received? Probably it could be that we are like the wind driven tossed here and there. It says ask in faith. Key is ask in faith.
Please repeat church. Let’s all get this today. Wire this into our memories. Ask in faith. Ask in faith. We must ask in faith. What is the faith? That he loves us. Number one thing. Number two, it is his will. Number three, he is hearing what we are asking. Amen. And if we hears we receive it. Ask in faith. When you’re asking, don’t continue to ask years. Don’t continue to ask weeks. If you go back asking, you have nullified your prayer because you are thinking he has not heard or he is not willing to give or you have not understood the finished work of the cross of Calvary. So please focus now on Mark 11:24. Let’s focus on that verse. Therefore, I say unto you, look at that verse. Whenever you pray, whenever you ask in prayer, believe that you receive them and you will have. Whatever things you ask, whatever things you ask when you pray, has it put uh list what you can ask and what you can’t ask according to his will. Whatsoever you ask and whosoever can ask. Whatsoever you ask in prayer that means it’s first condition that you ask in prayer. Amen. You ask sometimes you can ask in words other times you can ask in action. Hear me again. Sometimes you can ask God in words in prayer. Other times you can ask God in action. You can pray in words or you can pray in action. Amen. We all understand pray in the spirit. Pray in the spirit. It’s speaking in tongues. Now either you can pray in words and ask God or you can pray in action.
In action you can ask God. So that’s why it says ask or imagine. When you’re imagining when you’re thinking what you have asked for itself is law of expectation. Amen. Very powerful. So when you have asked you ask one time you ask two time you ask three times but you cannot ask for three months you cannot keep asking if you are going on asking that means you are saying god you don’t hear me you’re insulting God you are just saying that verse is a lie which says the ears of the lord are attentive to the cry of righteous you’re nullifying that word by repeating your request you should say god I know you have heard me Jesus didn’t stand there 10 times recite Lazarus come out. Lazarus come out. Lazarus come out. Father have you heard me? Have you heard me? No. He said father I thank you that you have heard me. Amen. So when you have asked God you have that confidence and then what you say there whatsoever things you ask for in prayer believe. So what is this believe? You must believe that God exist. Believe. Focus on God. Focus. This word believe is so powerful.
Believe is that you’re focusing on God. I said don’t focus on the pain. Focus on the bronze snake. That is believing. Amen. You’re looking at what Jesus did on the cross. Say for example, say you’re praying for some sickness or your skin to be cleared. If you’re always looking at the mirror, is it cleared? Okay. Again, I go and pray. Is it cleared? In Jesus name, I command you to be cleared. And then let me go see. Okay. Okay, is it done? Okay, let me check the weight. Is it done? Is it done? So, where is the focus? The focus is on the problem. You’re praying for offer letter. You’re checking the email. Has it come? Has it come? Why do you think they have not yet given? Let me check my resume. Is there something wrong with me? Should I rewrite the resume? Is there something wrong? What I can do about this? What about that company? I think they don’t want to take me. When you’re thinking about the problem, it means you are worrying. You’re worrying. When you’re worrying, you’re not operating in faith. When you wake up in the night,
when it is disturbing your sleep, you can be sure you are in worry because faith sleeps. Yes. Amen. Faith sleeps when it is keeping you awake. Been there, done that. When I used to be awake in the night thinking something is wrong again, I’m going to have another miscarriage. I’m awake in the night, middle of the night, I know I am worrying. The last time when I received, you know what? I just went to sleep. I said, I I don’t have to worry. It’s done. It’s over. I don’t have to worry. So when you’re thinking about a problem, you’re thinking about the lack, you’re thinking about your job, you’re thinking about the bills, itself is a sign you’re worrying, you are tossing like the wind. You prayed and now you’re worrying. You prayed and now you’re worrying. It’s faith and doubt. Faith and doubt both operating. When faith and doubt both operates, you know, doubt takes over. So you must nullify doubt completely. Don’t allow that doubt to exist. Don’t give foothold to Satan. Focus on what God has done. Don’t focus on faith. Don’t have faith in faith. Have faith in God. Don’t think your faith will bring the miracle. It is not your faith. Don’t think you’re doing your confession will bring the miracle. It is his grace that already provided. His grace already provided. Your faith only takes it. So you’re believing in the sense what you’re believing in his work, believing in his love. Your focus is on the bronze snake. Your f focus is on what Jesus did. You’re praying for sickness.
You know what should be your focus? He gives beauty for ashes. Your focus is that on at the cross he gave beauty. You have financial problem. Your focus is he became poor and made me rich. His garment was taken and they humiliated him, shamed him. They tore it into pieces. Let that be your focus and say that he was naked on the cross so that I can be rich. That is our focus on the bronze neck. Amen. So when you’re focusing on the bills, you are focusing on the mountain. Don’t focus on the mountain. Don’t look at the problem. Don’t look at the issues. Don’t look at the circumstances. Focus on the sun. It’s very important. Behold Jesus. That’s what the Bible says. Behold Jesus. How by looking at bronze snake I’ll get healed. That’s the solution of the Bible. You want Bible solution or world solution? World solution does not work. Moses said, “Look at the bronze snake.” They would have thought, “What madness is this? I am bitten and you’re telling me to look at the bronze snake.” Yes, look at the bronze snake. Believe. Focus on Jesus.
Therefore, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received. Very powerful. Now, why we have not yet received? Receive. The word receive in Greek is lambano. The word receive in Greek is lambano. What is lambano? It simply means to take. To take. So in Greek Jesus probably would have spoken Aramaic or Hebrew. What he said? He said when you come near to God, when you come face to face with Aba, whenever you pray, whatever you ask, first thing you must ask. So whatever you ask, he didn’t say keep on asking because there is a scripture when you see in amplified it says keep on asking, keep on knocking. So people get confused with Matthew 7:7. It’s not like keep on asking in unbelief. It is you ask once, you ask twice, you ask thrice, but you don’t ask for 3 months and 3 years. Once you ask, you persist in believing. Persistent prayer is not persisting in asking. Persistent prayer is persisting in believing that you have received what you have asked for. Amen. So when it says receive whatever you have, whatever you have asked, you asked for job, you have asked for marriage. I ask you Jesus, you take it. Walk out of your prayer room. That’s what it means. Lano. Jesus said when you pray lano. He said when you pray lano. Jesus didn’t speak Greek. In Greek it says lambano. So what he said is when you pray take it. You should take your hand and take it. Your healing take it. Your job you take it. You take it without worrying. You take it. Focusing on Jesus. Take it. Thanking Jesus. Amen. Thanking Jesus. Very powerful. When you when when you pray, believe you have received and it shall be yours. Whatsoever, whosoever, anything you can ask, anything you can ask. As it says in the book of James, ask in faith is the condition. Amen. Sarah had problem in believing. She didn’t start off as woman of faith. When three visitors visited, when she heard the visitors say the Lord spoke and said, “Next year at this time, you will have a child.” What she did? She laughed. She could not believe. She said, “This is so hilarious. This is so funny. What a joke.” And she’s laughing. And God said, “Why is she laughing? I can see you’re laughing. I can see you’re not believing.” She said, “No, no, God, I believe. I believe. I believe God.” She said, “I believe God.” At that time, she didn’t believe. Eventually, in that one year, what happened? Do you think? See one year’s time exactly one year’s time. So the day she laughed say it was 12th month. Okay backwards 12th month. So when do you think she actually started believing? In the next 3 months. In the next 3 months she believed
because the day she believed that’s the day she conceived. So third month of her laughter to believing is the is three months period. Third month she believed and in the ninth month of that period of 12 months she held laughter in her hands. Right? So it took 3 months for her to believe not more than that for a 90 year old took 3 months. So 3 months is more than enough for you to receive your job to receive your baby to receive your healing to get your marriage. That’s a maximum time you can take it that very moment. But if you are like Sara saying I’m like Sarah, I’m struggling in my faith. I’m not able to believe what you’re saying. Some people will take it like Bartameus I need my recite. I take it and I keep walking out that’s it over. But if you are saying I am like Sarah you know what God talks about Sarah in Hebrews 11 verse number 11 it says her name is under the hall of fame. women of faith. What faith she had? She judged him faithful. In the three months, you know what happened? She started off confessing. I am father of nation. I’m mother of nations. Her husband was like father of nations. She started confessing. First day she has not believed. First month probably she has not believed. So whatever you are asking God, thank you God for the job. Thank you God for the marriage. Thank you God I am healed. Thank you God for I have fit body. Thank you God for the increase. Thank you God for multiplication. Thank you God for the new offers. When you’re confessing, you may not believe, but keep confessing. Keep believing. Keep trying. You do what you can. He will always do what you can’t. Third month, you know what has happened to her? We don’t understand that in Genesis. In Hebrews 11:11, it says she judged him faithful. She was not focusing she’s 90. She was not focusing she has problem. She was not focusing she’s barren. She’s not focusing on self. She’s not focusing on the son. She’s not focusing on a child. She judged him faithful. She was focusing on Jesus. She was focusing on him.
She just was looking at him and finally said, “He is faithful. He’s faithful. He’s faithful to keep the promise and fulfill the promise. He’s more than able to fulfill the promise.” And behold, that very moment she conceived and nine months from there, she held laughter in her hands. Amen. Church, I want to encourage you. Ask. We are not done with this sermon. Still we have to move on to imagine but then let’s begin with first step of asking anything you can ask church anything those of you unmarried here you can ask for your spouse ask what you want ask God ask him today you ask him those of you watching us online ask him because when I was 19 my mom was worried about my wedding because like we come from a different faith so she thought like it’s difficult to get proposal from a different faith. So and also she thought I’m not going to get married because I had told her that I don’t want to get married. So she said you have to pray today is your 19th birthday. You have to pray for your wedding. I said no I don’t want to get married because my parents had broken marriage and it was not a good thing for me to get into marriage at that time. I was having lot of doubts and fears I should say. So mom said you should ask and I said okay because she said unwillingly I went the day in prayer on my 19th birthday I said I asked you God I don’t know what to pray I pray for my marriage that’s it nothing else I said I don’t know what to say mom told to pray I pray for my marriage and God gives me a vision that particular week he gives me a vision I get to see the color of the person the village of the person their family hair. I get to see everything mud road and I get to see his choice is different from my choice. God showed me everything and final scene in the name of the father son and the holy ghost you both are married. I see the scene and then I weep. I weep. I cry because I’m not happy that his choice is different from my choice. We have two different choices. And I wake up in the dream with my tears in my eyes and I’m like okay this is not a dream.
God has heard my prayer and he has given me a vision. So next day I said mom I got a vision. I got a vision that I am going to marry this person. This will be his language. This is his background and his choice and my choice is different and he does not understand me. My language is different. And I said I was crying. So my mom thought like I am worried and I am it’s a nightmare. She said fine we’ll make a decision. You will not get married to a boy like that. I told this dream to my friends. I told this dream to my pastors to all the church leaders. Everybody knew in the my dream and everybody said we will ensure that you don’t get married to such a boy. Then I turned 21. My mom was even worried. She said, “It’s 20. You’re 21. You need to get married because I don’t know where I can find someone. We are from a different faith, from a different state. Our language is different. We don’t know anybody from this community. You have to ask.” She insisted on my 21st birthday. My birthday is in May, 5th May. I prayed God. Mom said to pray.
I ask you in Jesus’ name that before December this year, I want to see the boy whom you have chosen for me. And I have no reservations. He can be any background, any language, any taste, any choice he can have. God, all what I want is to be in the center of your will. I want the perfect will for my life. I made that prayer on 5th May. Three months from there, I told you God does not take time to answer. Three months from there, Pastor Abraham walks into my house. My mom is impressed with him. She fixes my marriage without knowing me. All the talks are done. She is so much in love with him. She’s like, “This is the boy for my daughter.” I said, “Mom, he’s a new convert and we don’t know anything about him. you cannot be in haste because I don’t like to do things in haste. We need to wait. She said okay you wait but I’ve given word to him. I’ve given word to his family. His family is coming to meet and they finished. They fixed everything was done. I said we have to wait. We waited for a year. Then I spoke to him. I said look you are good.
Everything is fine. Everybody has approved. My church my parents my spiritual leaders have have approved. I see that you are good but it is too early for me because I’m 21. I have lot of dreams and goals as always. So I need to finish my graduation my postgraduation. I need to find a good job. I need to help my family support them save and then do my master’s and then I can think of marriage. He said okay and he waited four years he waited. So four years was going by. At that time I had asked for the wedding. Now wedding is fixed. Now four years is delayed. By end of fourth year everyone started to say why are you delaying? You finished your postgraduation. You have got a good job. You have done your savings. Now why are you waiting? I said no let’s wait for some more time. Let’s wait for some more time. So he asked me you don’t like me or what for? What are you waiting? it seems like you like me, you’re talking to me so well, but uh it looks like you may not continue or not marry. I said no, we have to wait. We have to wait.
And at the end of fourth year, everybody started to speak. They told me for the last four years, he has been so kind, so naive, so good. We don’t know how he’s going to be after the wedding. Beware. Looks like all of this is acting to get you. My mom was also somewhere afraid. Not so much like my friends and my church and my my spiritual leader, the person who has so much of say in me. He was afraid. He could not believe he’s so kind. He said if you want to back off even now you can back off because we cannot trust him. He’s too good. So we cannot trust after wedding. You need to be prepared. Now already I have delayed because I am operating in fear. My parents had broken marriage. My grandparents had broken marriage. My aunt had broken marriage. My uncle had broken marriage. My maternal grand maternal grandfather paternal grandfather all of them had broken marriage and had more than one marriage. So marriage was a very fearful thing for me. I’m already in fear and everybody says that he might change and I’m so afraid now again I’m saying it’s four years uh and let me not continue in wedding. So one day pastor Abraham asked me why are you not getting married when everyone is saying let’s get married. I said, “I love you. You are kind. You are good. But I don’t trust you because I don’t trust you. I cannot get married. I’m too afraid to trust you. I’ve seen lot of failures in marriage around me. I cannot trust you.” He said, “That’s correct. Don’t trust me.” I said, “What? That’s correct. Don’t put a trust in a man.
In the book of Jeremiah, it says, “Cursed is the man who putteth trust in a man. Blessed is the man who put a trust in the Lord.” He said, “Don’t trust me and get married. Trust your God and get married to me.” I said, “Okay.” And we have been married for 15 years now. And today he’s celebrating his birthday. Please come. I request you to please come. Happy birthday to a man like Jesus. Amen. So it was so difficult for me to trust. I would have not trusted anyone if it was not for pastor Anand Ibraham. Indeed he is my motivator, my advisor, my philosopher, my PR manager, my fitness trainer and my fashion designer. the man who takes care of all the operations and supports me. I’m able to do everything because of his support. He is the man behind the scenes. The Bible says, “Give him honor to whom honor is due.” Right? He’s the president of a given generation church. He’s the backbone. I am the face. He does everything. He takes care of everything. He ensures that milkshake is ready on Sunday morning and served in my hands regularly, consistently for years.
He takes care of my kids. He’s he he listens to my sermons on every Friday or Saturday max. I rehearse my sermon. All my sermons for all the years I rehearse with him and I ask him is it right? Am I putting across right? Is it correct? My team knows it for years. Not once it has missed. And he corrects me. He he has not prepared the sermon. I would have taken say 20 hours to prepare my sermon. And then I rehearse and he says me this is this can be a better rephrased. This can be better told. This story can be put in here. He gives me all the corrections and words in my mouth. What he says I come and I tell you and it becomes millions of views. because it is told by pastor Abraham. Amen. Sometimes he prepares a beautiful quote. He prepares a beautiful sermon and he says if I tell this may not have that much media reach. I think you better say so that let the world benefit. End of the day he’s not worried whether credit goes to him or someone. He’s like let the world benefit. And he gives me the script and then I plan it and I say it and then indeed it becomes millions of views because it is his mastermind. Amen. It’s been that way. He has taken care of me in the ways unimaginable. So today when I said ask for your marriage, you can ask for anything. I could never dream of having such a blessed marriage. I could never dream because there was so much brokenness in my family. I’ve never seen successful marriage. Never seen successful marriage. All that I had seen was like how uh in my family how husbands would always put down their wives, always criticize them.
I’ve seen that so much. And sometimes like during his youth, my dad, he would always put down my mom. the way she eats he will he would just make fun of her saying you eat like a beggar you sit like a beggar and I was like 10 year old 11 year old I will be smiling but my smile has a lot of meanings to it I’m not happy with what he’s saying but then I don’t react all of those things has gone back of my mind but you know today I’m telling you this because not a single day goes by that he has not appreciated me he always appreciates ience. He always finds reason to tell how well I eat, how well I walk, how well I sleep, everything is beautiful, everything is wonderful. Whatever I do is always like he says only you can do this. What you do is best. If you say is best, he will stand next to me and prepare a sermon and says if I stand next to you that sermon will become million views. He’s always finding reason to appreciate. I think you all know that online in-house audience you all have seen I don’t give him mics sometimes because too much he praises I said don’t praise me I asked you to pray not praise he is so much praising and he’s not acting here on the stage you can ask my kids it’s 24 bar 7 at home they are always smiling morning afternoon night every time always appreciating always encouraging you know why Deuteronomy 23 335 The Lord your God will turn every curse into a blessing because the Lord your God loves you because God loves you. Church, God will turn every curse into a blessing. I have not seen such a marriage in my entire life in my family relatives. God has given such a great marriage. So I am standing here as a testimony to tell you that whatever you have lost, whatever you have not got, dare to ask. Dare to ask a great marriage, dare to ask a big ministry. Dare to ask a big figure salary job. Dare to ask big things because the Lord your God loves you more than you ask or imagine is my marriage. Amen. It’s been so wonderful. It’s been so wonderful because God has blessed it. Amen.
I can go on. I think I would not continue. I can go on talking some other time. We will uh take time to share. Yeah. Yes. Let’s pray for him. He requested for prayer. I dare to ask everything that is in his vision board. I dare to ask everything that is in his list. I dare to ask. I receive everything that is in his to-do list will be done by our father so that
father will be glorified and your joy will be full. I ask everything that God has planned. His word will not be lack in your mouth. When you open your mouth, yes, bondage will be broken. Healing will happen. And every word that you prophesy will not return back wired. I plead the precious blood of Jesus upon you in Jesus holy and matchless name we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen. But we have been so privileged to serve God under your leadership and know the depth beneath all of these titles. Yes, Pastor Abraham has always been such an inspiration to each and every one of us. He has not only been preaching powerful powerp packed messages every time he gets on stage and been dancing during David’s mis ministry resounding with grace. But he is the same humble person who stands at hospital bedsides praying with unwavering faith with grace, love and pastoral care. Let us give a clap offering to our dear pastor Abraham. I still remember back at our engagement ceremony when I was still a newcomer, he handpicked each and every element of the ceremony. Yes, he not just blessed the union, but he showed love in action. And that to me is a sign of a beloved shepherd. Yes, Pastor Abraham has always been showing love and word in action consistently. I have seen him bridging generations together. He has been speaking wisdom and understanding to the young, giving love to the old and showing care to our beloved online family by making sure that week after week the word of God is delivered. uninterrupted because he always wants to make sure that everybody watching us online feels special, feels important and knows that Jesus is Lord and Jesus is love. He loves shopping. Any day I want to make him happy, I have to just tell him, “Let’s go for shopping.” It’s totally reverse. In our case, I don’t enjoy that much shopping. I feel sometimes like too much of waste of time because he’s so choosy and so picky. I told you right. His choice is so different. I’m like, we go for a white shirt. I go directly for a white shirt. I don’t see anything next to it. White shirt is what I see. There’s no white shirt. I come out. He’s like, “No, I saw the shoe. I saw the earring. I saw the finger ringing. I saw the bracelet. I saw the pant. I saw the skirt. So, we need to pick this up.” I’m like, “No, we are going only for a white shirt. So, we are different.” So, that’s what God puts two people different. Amen. So he loves shopping and takes care of all the outfits. As I said, sometimes I don’t like his choice, but yet I choose to wear to honor him, to obey him. And I tell him, please don’t make me look like Michael Jackson. And our beloved people say, “Pastor, please do because it suits you.” Let’s rise up to our feet and receive the final benediction. We dare to ask, we dare to ask every obesity, every kind of unwanted cell organ in the body be healed, be renewed in Jesus’ name. We ask you for your perfect will. We ask your will to be manifested.
