Good Christian Men, Rejoice (Tune: In Dulce Jubilo – 3vv) [with lyrics for congregations]
“Good Christian Men, Rejoice” is a translation by John Mason Neale of a fourteenth century Latin and German hymn (technicallly a ‘macaronic’ hymn, where two or more languages are interspersed and play off each other). Its opening line was “In Dulce Jubilo” (‘In Sweet Rejoicing’).
The tune is ‘In Dulce Jubilo’, a German folk tune published in Klug’s ‘Geistliche Lieder’, Wittenberg, 1535.
