Thank you to every person who helped make this music project possible, whether that was behind the scenes, supporting financially, volunteering, praying, blessing the project musically, doing video, being the “scribe” and helping direct (Celina!), contributing ideas, investing time and attention to important details! Thanks especially to my husband for all his hard work that funded this project, my children, parents and siblings for always being my biggest fans and cheerleaders, and always believing in me and encouraging me to never stop walking out my calling and executing my vision, even in the middle of fighting neurological Lyme’s disease.

Shoutout to all the enduring people!

“Moses’ Mama” Lyrics:

VERSE 1:
Their lives were made bitter
With slave masters, brick and mortar
Yet the children of Israel were blessed
Their families got bigger and bigger
And you know there’s strength in numbers
The new king of Egypt saw this as a threat

Commanded with his nerves riled
The death of every man-child
Tried to put the midwives to it
But they just couldn’t do it
Cause they feared their Maker
God gave them favor

A Levite couple had a son
Hid the babe for three months
Red alert went on and on
King’s men were on the hunt
To carry out his Plan B
Which was…
Death by the Nile River!

CHORUS:
But Moses’ Mama did not comply
When evil got thick, she had creative grit
How she trusted in Elohim’s providence!

VERSE 2:
No more could she hide him
Chance of his survival so slim
So she made her baby boy a boat
If he must go to the river
By herself she’d hand-deliver
And cling onto the glimmers of hope

Pulled off a brave stunt
At a lavish riverfront
In the reeds she secured him
As her tears entreated heaven
Praying to her Maker
In deep intercession

Miriam became a spy
Would anybody hear his cry?
Then wading through the currents
Came a princess and her servants
And as the waters glistened
She saw…
The basket floating in the distance!

CHORUS:
But Moses’ Mama did not comply
When evil got thick, she had creative grit
How she trusted in Elohim’s providence!

Jam-Jam:
What on earth could be in the basket?
The princess asked her maiden to fetch it
She opened the lid and then their eyes met

“Let My people go!”

Baby cried cause he was a little startled
Don’t this lady at least got a bottle?
The basket’s getting old
I could really use a cuddle

“Let My people go!”

Pharaoh’s daughter wasn’t like her father
Her heart was way, way, way, way softer
It didn’t take long for his cuteness to charm her

“Let My people go!”

She understood the baby was a Hebrew
She didn’t care if it would be an issue
She would rather live by her virtues

“Let My people go!”

Miriam got a little bit excited
With an entrepreneurial mindset
She knew of a woman with a
Valuable asset

“Let My people go!”

Princess said she’d even pay wages
To the woman who could nurse him
In the early stages
Miriam thought, “Oh how advantageous!””

“Let My people go!”

Placed in a home of safety and status
Moses would grow up in Pharaoh’s palace
Put there to stop the oppression apparatus

“Let My people go!”

Placed in a home of safety and status
Moses would grow up in Pharaoh’s palace
Put there to stop the oppression apparatus

Let My people, Let My people go!
Let My people, Let My people go!
