This is a cover song of the traditional German Christmas carol “O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree ” with lyrics.
The carol started life as ‘O Tannenbaum’ (O Fir Tree) and the modern version was written by Ernst Anschütz in 1824 who adapted it from a 16th-century Silesian folk song. The lyrics do not actually refer to Christmas, or describe a decorated Christmas tree. Instead, they refer to the fir’s evergreen quality as a symbol of constancy and faithfulness. Then as the fir tree started to be associated with Christmas, so did this song and when it got translated into English it became ‘O Christmas Tree’
