P-TAL

Transforming Traditions into Trends

P-TAL (Punjabi Thathera Art Legacy) aims at reviving the age old traditions of using brass, copper and kansa utensils which are known to be beneficial for your health by Ayurveda. This is done by combining modern designs with traditional art of Thatheras who practise India’s only UNESCO listed craftform.

P-TAL aims to bring back people to the rich old traditions redefined in a modern way, so that people make the ‘right’ choices, and not the easy ones.

Authentic metals for Ayurvedic benefits!

Cooking in vessels made of brass and copper would seem old school, but did you know they can provide health benefits and enhance the nutritional value of our food? They not only help to retain the nutrients of the food by allowing it to cook at an even temperature but also increases strength and immunity.

P-TAL advocates the ayurvedic mantra of:

Cook in BrassDrink in CopperEat in Kansa/Bronze

Handcrafted with love by India’s only UNESCO listed artisans

P-TAL aims at reviving the dying craft form of the indigenous Thathera community of Jandiala Guru, Amritsar, who have the distinction of practising India’s only UNESCO listed craftform. The Thatheras of Jandiala Guru are a community of skilled craftsmen who specialize in the traditional technique of hammering brass and copper sheets into traditional utensils.

P-TAL, which started as a college project, now impacts 55 families of artisans, increasing their monthly incomes by over 1200% in the last 3 years. Just like the Thatheras, P-TAL is an epitome of transforming traditions into trends while converting practice into perfection thus moulding the vessels of hope!

A brass masala box, also known as a spice box or masala dabba, is a traditional Indian kitchen container used for storing and organizing various spices and herbs.
Brass masala boxes typically consist of a round or rectangular container with multiple small compartments or bowls that can hold different spices.
The brass material used in the masala box offers durability and protection for the spices, shielding them from light and moisture that can affect their flavor and aroma.
