WOLF PRAYER „Spell Of The Crimson Eye“

“Luna”, the first single from it, is actually a tribute to NASA’s Apollo programme (1969-1972), the associated moon landings and to our mystical partner: the moon. Space travel supports, shapes and secures our lives and ranges from new space stations to manned missions to the moon, Mars or asteroids. Mankind strives to discover new places, countries or planets.The song “Luna”, which means moon in Latin and moon goddess in Roman mythology, describes mankind’s journey or mystical attraction to our earth satellite and invites us to close our eyes and surrender to the musical journey to the moon. In addition, it is also about the moon itself and its connection to the earth and humanity. The moon brings us ebb and flow; perhaps without it, the continents on earth would still be inanimate and all life would take place in the water. The tides bring the oceans into motion and us coastal flood plains, a transition between water and land. Many people are even convinced that the moon has an influence on their body, mind and well-being.

“Oblivion” is the second single from “Spell Of The Crimson Eye” (06.10.2023), the upcoming second album by stoner/fuzz rockers WOLF PRAYER. The song is about forgetfulness, more precisely the disease-related forgetfulness of Alzheimer’s dementia, an incurable disorder of the brain. Due to the death of nerve cells in the brain, affected people become increasingly forgetful, confused and disoriented. Familiar, simple activities such as drinking or eating can no longer be carried out. Visual impressions and spatial relationships are no longer understood. There is a change in the mood and personality of the affected persons. They easily become upset when they are outside their familiar environment. If routines or developed rigid processes are interrupted, there is restlessness, anxiety or confusion. Reality changes into a strange illusion that is no longer believed or trusted. Gradually, the long-term memory also suffers, so that loved ones, family members and friends are no longer recognised and are treated or perceived with a distrustful distance. There is hardly anything left of the former beloved personality. Due to the degradation of cognitive abilities, the loss of personality and the degradation of the physical, bodily condition, one can only watch helplessly the decay and the associated dwindling of the life forces of the loved one. Wolf Prayer have packed all this into “Oblivion”.
