O VARUM VARUM IMMANUVEL I TAMIL CHRISTMAS SONG I CYNTHIA EBENEZER I FT CHARIS ZOE
O VARUM VARUM IMMANUEL | CHRISTMAS SONGS | CHRISTMAS MUSIC | CYNTHIA EBENEZER
The hymn, Veni Veni Emmanuel- originally in Latin, takes us back over 1,200 years to monastic life in the 8th- or 9th-century. Translated in English by John M. Beale in 1851, O come o come Immanuel.
All of the Latin attributions to the coming Messiah are from the Old Testament except “Emmanuel,” which is found both in Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23. Matthew quotes Isaiah virtually verbatim—“Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel”—with the exception that Matthew adds the phrase: “which being interpreted is, God with us.”
This Latin hymn doubles as a prayer for the first and second coming of Christ. It takes us into the mind of old Israel, longing for the first coming of the Messiah. And it goes beyond that longing by voicing the yearning of the church of Christ for the Messiah, Jesus Christ, to consummate the history of redemption.
Translated in Tamil Cynthia Ebenezer referring Latin & English lyrics .
